Bohn to Speak to School of Business Students
EKU Risk Management and Insurance is pleased to announce that Dr. Cynthia Bohn will visit EKU's School of Business to speak with students, faculty and staff on Thursday March 23, 2017. Bohn will be on campus at 12:30 pm in the Business and Technology Center, Room 179. She will be speaking on "How Women (and Men) Can Achieve Success in the Business World". The event is free and open the the public.
Bohn is a three-time EKU alum and strong supporter of College of Business and Technology initiatives. A native Kentuckian, she grew up on a tobacco farm in Central Kentucky and retired after 30+ yrs with IBM Corp. She served in numerous roles within IBM, ranging from electrical engineering, international marketing, executive management and teaching at the IBM Harvard Business Institute.
She pioneered the rebirth of the Kentucky wine industry by starting the KY Grape and Wine Council in the early 1990's. She launched a new agri-tourism industry with the start of a vineyard and winery in 1998 in Midway, Ky. -- thus her pre-planning for retirement back to Kentucky farmland!
Bohn is an academic at heart, having four degrees in the sciences and arts, three of which are from Eastern Kentucky University, and is passionate about lifelong learning. Equus Run Vineyards is her full-time job after her IBM Corp. retirement. The winery is open year round as a full-service winery and agri-tourism destination. When not at the winery, Bohn is involved with numerous community boards such as the Kentucky World Trade Center, Women Leading Kentucky, Shriner's Corporate Council and EKU Business Advisory Council.
