December Grad Embarks on New Career
EKU graduate William D. Baker, from Richmond, earned his BBA in Risk Management and Insurance this past December and reflected on his time here at EKU. Will shared his thoughts and gratitude with RMI faculty and staff below.
Debbie and RMI Professors:
Over the last few years you all have been the most supportive professors I have had at Eastern. From marketing the program in classes to an undying effort to organizing fundraisers, it was great to see. You all have a drive to help students and I thoroughly enjoy coming through this program. I feel as though I learned most of the information I actually retained during college in the RMI courses and believe that information will be beneficial in my career and personal growth. Each of you are appreciated and all the staff are great and the amount of connections you all have is spectacular. Also, I attended Westfield College Days this semester and had a blast and would recommend it to anyone in the business building, not just in our major.
That being said, I have accepted a job with Cincinnati Financial as a Field Claims Representative. I had an internship with them during the summer of 2015 believe this was essential in obtaining a job - every student should come out of college with internship experience under their belt. Following a dream of mine which has been around since the later stages of my high school career, I will be moving away from Richmond and Kentucky as a whole. I am moving to Denver, CO around February 1st and could not be more excited. I feel as though this is the time to do it and would more than likely would not have the same opportunity later on in my career. I never thought this would be possible straight out of college and appreciate all of my experiences along the way and the staff in the RMI office for getting in my head that there are all kinds of opportunities out there. I am excited to learn about life in a new location, take my first plane ride, and meet people from all different backgrounds.
I would really just like to extend a thank you to you all, as you have been instrumental in my development as a person and embarking on a new adventure and, hopefully, a fulfilling career and life.
