Ridings Resource Center Named

It's not just another room with the usual desk or table and chairs. As many as six Risk Management and Insurance students may gather to study for exams or prepare for telephone interviews. In this special area, students come to eat lunch, study together, have small group learning sessions with professors and even take a quick nap.

EKU Students Attend Gamma Iota Sigma National Conference

Gamma Iota Sigma is the only international business fraternity for students of insurance, risk management and actuarial science. EKU’s chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma attended the 45th annual International Conference held in Columbus, Ohio, from September 29 - October 1, 2016.

2016-17 RMI Scholarship Recipients

EKU Risk Management and Insurance is pleased to announce scholarship recipients for the 2016-17 academic year. Through the generosity of donors and industry partners, various scholarship opportunities ranging from $400 to $3,000 per academic year are awarded to students in the Risk Management and Insurance program.

Dr. Karen Hood Hopkins, Assistant Professor of Marking, knows what millennials want. Her expertise has garnered an invitation from Kentucky Farm Bureau to lead a workshop at their annual meeting on Sept 21st at Belterra Resort in Florence, Ind.

I'm Kevin Wesley, I graduated EKU with a degree in RMI in December 2015. Switching my major to RMI was one of the best decision I made for my career. Upon graduation I had numerous job interviews and many positions offered to me, but none of them felt right for me. I had job offers in different fields such as claims, underwriter, owning an agency, and selling life insurance.

My experience so far in the insurance industry has been overall great. Honestly it started out a little rough. I took a job working for a State Farm agent right out of school. The job was not for me. So I began searching for a different position in the industry and found Tower Hill. The position I took was Renewal Underwriter I.

Kentucky Medal of Honor Presented to Ron House

On Wednesday, May 18th, Ron House, LUTCF, CSA, MA of Richmond, was awarded the Kentucky Medal of Honor by the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors-Kentucky during their annual convention and state sales summit. The event was held at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Lexington.
