Risk Management Services has a position opening for a worker’s compensation claims adjuster in the Louisville, Ky., office. This person will become licensed and trained to handle Medical Only and Post Award files. The candidate needs basic computer skills and the ability to communicate professionally via phone, email, letter, etc. A great attitude, the willingness to work hard, learn, take direction, multi-task, self-motivation and flexibility are all important to this position and the addition of our team. Salary range is mid 20’s to mid 30’s. Experience in worker’s compensation is preferred but not required and we are willing to license and train the right person.
As a licensed claims adjuster this person will be responsible for investigating all aspects of the injury/claim and determining compensability. They will need to communicate effectively with all parties involved in the claim including clients, claimants, medical providers, attorneys, nurse case managers, etc. They will need to gather facts to make informed decisions. They will need to utilize resources as appropriate. They will need to learn jurisdictional statutes, rules and regulations and comply with same. They will need to identify subrogation and pursue recovery when appropriate. They will be responsible for setting case reserves, working from a diary system and maintaining a current desk. They will need to report to Excess Carriers as necessary. They will need to understand and follow special handling instructions as directed by clients. They will need to understand and follow internal Standard Operating Procedures as well as Best Claims Practices. They will need to attend client meetings, claims reviews, department and company meetings when requested. This is not a full listing of job duties but should serve as guide to some of the job expectations.
