Dr. Jordan earned her undergraduate BSBA in Insurance at Bowling Green State University in Ohio (1983), MBA at University of Georgia (1985), and completed her PHD in Risk Management & Insurance at University of Georgia in 1991.
Her first academic position out of graduate school was at EKU where she taught from 1988 until the fall of 1994. During her tenure at EKU, the program grew from 11 majors to 76 majors. Jordan left EKU to become the State Farm Professor of Insurance at the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 1994 where she instituted an annual Insurance Symposium. She left the program in 2000 with more than 100 majors.
In the fall of 2000, Jordan accepted the Eminent Scholar position at Troy University. She began that program from scratch, with no students, and retired from there in 2012 with 120 students majoring in RMI. This program was dedicated to Surplus Lines & Reinsurance and we continued the Symposium annually with the National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices (NAPSLO) sponsoring the symposium. During that time Jordan began lecturing during the summers at Lloyd's of London, teaching underwriters and brokers. While at Troy, jordan took students to London each summer for internships at Lloyd's, a practice that she intends to continue with EKU students.
