FrostBite 5K Draws Runners of all Ages

FrostBite 5k family prepares for the fun

The air was crisp and participants of all ages came to support EKU’s Risk Management and Insurance program. The 2017 Frostbite 5K benefit run was off to a great start!

The Frostbite 5K is an annual event for the program; all sponsorships and proceeds go towards scholarships for the students of RMI. Sponsorship levels were $100, $250, and $500 dollars. Sponsors were given booths to provide information of their services and merchandise at the event, as well as advertising space on Frostbite 5K prizes and giveaways.

Participants in the 5K arrived at the Business and Technology Center to both run competitively as well as walk with their pets early Saturday, January 28, 2017. With registration at $20, more than 70 participants enjoyed the route of the 5K, as well as warm drinks and refreshments afterward. The first runner to complete the course took only 17 minutes.

Six RMI students volunteered to work the event; they handed out first, second, and third place medals in 13 age categories; 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over. The oldest participant was 80 years old.
