RMI Hosts 28th Annual Golf Outing

The 28th annual RMI Golf Outing was held on September 6th at the Arlington Golf Club in Richmond, KY. It was a beautiful day for golf with the promised rain for the day holding out until the event was over.

The outing is designed as a fundraiser for RMI scholarships. It was coordinated for 22 of its 28 years by local businessmen Shawn Weir and Brian Dickey, but has since passed into the hands of RMI faculty and administrators. Since its inception, the fundraiser has garnered more than $250,000 in support.

There were a total of 96 golfers in attendance with 24 teams.  Two RMI students, Charles Lewis and Jacob Bennett were also able to golf on two of the teams. Other students came to help with registration, game holes, and to take pictures. "We appreciate the students that come to our events. They make them so much more fun and organized," said program coordinator, Debbie Ellis.

The M. Joseph Medical putting contest was again a big draw with bringing in over $700 in additional scholarship money.  Not to mention the added bling to the door prize table.  Other great sponsors were:

Gold: Peel & Holland, KEMI, and MassMutual Midwest

Silver: Pharmacists Mutual Companies, AssuredPartners, Risk Placement Services, Inc., Kentucky League of Cities, Maverick Insurance, Preferred Medical, KY National Insurance, and Logan Lavelle Hunt

Bronze: Lisa Gardner, Dotson & Associates, LLC, Arlington/Roe, Landrum & Shouse, LLP, Burke Christensen, IIAK, Humana, Bankers Life, and KACo

Of course no golf outing would be complete without the donation of a very nice dinner from Texas Roadhouse. Texas Roadhouse has been a willing donor for many years and we truly appreciate them for that.

Debbie Ellis added, "It is difficult to express how much we appreciate all of your contributions and support of this outing and all our program events.  Our students are the direct beneficiaries of your generosity.  We look forward to continuing a good working relationship with all of you for years to come."
